V6 ECU Holder

My 2.5 by ECU was drowned recently, and many of you gave some very helpful suggestions. Anyway, the unit is now thoroughly dried out, and the car now starts and runs perfectly. I think a new one would be better in the long run, and I am pursuing this option at the moment.

In the meantime, I have a strange problem. The ECU mounting bracket on the false bulkhead wall seems to bear no relationship to the ECU! I spoke to the AA chap who took it out, and he said he thought there should be a box (or container) to put the ECU into, and then mount that on the bracket. He added that this is why the unit was sitting in water at the bottom of the plenum! Why should this container be missing, as I've known the car for most of its life. In the absence of said box, I have tried to mount the ECU on the bracket with cable ties, but I am not happy with the result.

So, am I missing some vital fittings, or is there some mechanical conjuring trick to fitting the ECU which is eluding me?

If there is a box, or container, for the ECU, has anybody got one?If not, where can I get one?

He's thinking about the diesel models the V6 models only have the plastic cage type ECU holder

Thanks, I'd spotted the Rimmer's page just after I posted.
You are right, the cage has broken off at one end, and this is why it looked so alien in situ! Now that I know what I'm looking at, I managed to pull it off the bulkhead, so I may be able to cobble a repair together while it's out of the car, on the bench.

I'll also ask Mickyboy if he has one.

I drilled a couple of holes at the broken end of the holder, and a few cable ties later, the whole box and ECU assembly were slotted back into their proper position on the bulkhead. The car started first time. Job done, sorry to have troubled you all.
