Default Trip computer not responding to button

My Mk2 diesel tourer has a frustrating fault with the trip computer, this seems to have become apparent 2 or 3 months ago when I was having some issues with the alternator connections, and I had been regularly disconnecting the battery during my investigations.

The highline display works, including the trafficmaster splash screen and the bulb/door warnings, albeit with the customary vertical lines, however I cannot get it to respond to the pushbutton and to cycle through the menu options.

I have tried the following:
Battery reset 30 Mins
OBC reset - via diagnostic menu 21.0
Continuity test of wiring between the instrment pack and the pushbutton stalk.

Battery reset 10 hours
It is still not responding

Any more ideas out there ??

If you press the trip button without the key in, does the display come on ?

When the engines on, and running do you get a display ?

have you checked the button itself??

pop the arm out and check for continuity with the button pressed...

I checked the continuity to ground, black/yellow wire at C0233-9 with a multimeter and I got a beep when the button was pushed.

if you mean the odometer reset/diagnostics button (black stalk that stick out through the hole in the glass) then that works as normal. Without the key, it just wakes up the odometer to show the mileage.

The displays all work - it is just that the button on the end of the indicator stalk is not bringing on the trip computer. I still get all of the warnings that the highline IPK gives, bulbs, doors etc..

Well I would suggest that the resistance that the IPK reads is incorrect despite having continuity. Probably need to try another switch then

I am back after 2 years to bump my old thread.

The stalk button push is still not responding, however I have just had the IPK de-lined by Rick and he assured me that he was able to cycle the trip computer display when he had it last weekend.

I have just replaced the entire indicator stalk switch module and there is still no response.

Has anyone had a similar issue and solved it???

Not heard of this one before, check the pins in the plug that connect to the stalk first then work your way back through the wires to the IPK.
