Hmm.
Might this be one of the vast quantities of MOT passes with "No advisory" cars we keep reading about on here ?

No it's an MOT pass from the completely impartial DSA in Northern Ireland where the VTS is government run and not open to the sort of abuses that can happen in mainland VTS John...........anyway if you have an MOT pass without advisories it can also mean the car which is being presented for test has actually had a dose of looking at first.

A point in question are generally my own fleet, I know what the MOT man is looking to inspect, and ensure that in addition to normal servicing, the car is checked thoroughly prior to being presented.

Of course the inspection is only as good as the diligence of the person carrying out the test, as in every walk of life there will be people who are more capable than others in carrying out work in their chosen profession.

I was having an MOT done yesterday on a friends Golf, my MOT tester was telling me about a Jag he did this week. It was a recent purchase by one of his regulars and he asked if he could take a look underneath. This is a 2008 Xtype estate that looked immaculate with low miles apparently. Anyway once up on the lift he was shocked to see the rust and holes in the chassis and he told him no to drive it as it was in his opinion dangerous as some of the suspension parts could easily become detached . The car had no advisories on the last MOT and it was only carried out 8 weeks beforehand. He is reporting the testing station.

I thought these duff MOT's had been stopped but obviously not. I wonder how many cars are out there with dangerous faults with a fresh MOT?

I always service my cars and give them a thorough check over before presenting for an MOT test, my aim is an advisory free pass (just because it pleases me), also I have the best chance of reliable motoring.
