26th March 2016 - polished the car.
Finally got the car back after getting the headlights changed, the TÜV sorted (German MOT) and registered onto German plates. It was a tad grubby after the mechanics had been at it, and being Saturday and me not working I gave it a quick wash off and a dab of polish.
Afterwards I took a look at the non-playing tape player - paradox in there somewhere - and it does actually play, but you'd need an ear trumpet to hear it. Of course going from max volume straight back to the radio was a mistake, but the doctor says the ringing in the ears should stop by Tuesday. Tape head cleaner and a liberal dose of cleaner fluid didn't help, so I suppose I'll have to take it out. I know, I know . . . I've got a much more modern, well nearly new, unused Panasonic CD/MP3 player sitting there doing nothing . . . but it looks so good with all the knobs and buttons and things. Obviously the system doesn't like my picture being on Google Drive but that'll have to wait. I've already learnt enough today.

Gave it a service, checked the brakes and horrified to find a front pad had fallen apart! No idea when this had happened as it braked fine with no noises. Quick pad change and now sorted. Plenum checked which was dry and couldn't get the service light to reset with the genuine MGR / BMW tool so need to hook it up to T4 if it stops raining. Two tyres ordered for the front (again) and hopefully the MOT next week

Having taken advantage of recent mild weather to give my car its Spring clean polish, I thought I'd use today's bad weather as an excuse to go for a drive and make it dirty again.

Was going to wash and polish today but it was raining so I cleaned the inside instead including gliptone for the leather. Smells nice now.

Repaired the leak in the heater hose, where it wan't in the clip on the battery box and had dropped and rubbed against the something on the subframe. It had worn through next to the plastic joining tube (still can't find this or work out which pipe to order from Rimmers) so cut an inch off and rejoined it.
Achieved access by removing battery box and took the opportunity to repaint the battery tray. Made sure the repaired pipe was corectly fitted into the clip. |

Not been on for while so hope your all doing well. Just got ZT mot'd for another year with no advisories so well chuffed. Not had anything to do past 12 months apart from just enjoy driving her. Looking to upgrade the mk3 satnav to BMW mk4 dvd at some point.
