ABS light..Rover 75 CDT
Hi,
My friends ABS light has started to come on intermittently, before I go chasing sensors, is this a common problem, loose wire etc. Can anyone recommend a diagnostic tool that doesn't cost the earth to track down faulty sensor? Regards David |

Check the connectors under the seat, disconnect battery for 30 mins first unplug spray with electrical cleaner and re plug them with a little Vaseline on the pins , then keep them tight using a cable tie on each one,
Hope that helps mick

I have the same problem with mine, an odd ABS flash every now and again. I asked about it at the last Midlands NANO MEET and the general consensus of opinion was that as its intermittent then it would be a nightmare to find. Not sure if a T4 session would point you at the corner the error message is being generated from . |

So, jack up the car, remove the front wheels and inspect the wiring for damage. If the insulation has been eroded, you need to renew the sensor and tie-wrap it very securely to prevent a recurrence. I have exactly this problem myself at the moment. Simon

Yeah, ignore my post I was on the phone at the time and thought I was replying to a SRS fault not a ABS fault. Sorry people !!!

As a general rule the first sensor (if that is the fault) that plays up is usually the nearside front, I was told it is because that is the wheel that gets the most abuse from potholes and curbs etc etc.
