A dilemma
My mother is in the high risk group for co19 due to her age and health conditions. She has a private carer eho comes twice a day during the week, and does washing ironing and shopping for her .Last week she told me she was only looking after my mum as the other two clients were being looked after during lockdown by their families. Then at the end of the week she told me she would have to stop because she has asthma and was scared of getting the virus herself or passing it on to mum. Today she said she has been speaking to her gp who advised that so long as she was ONLY looking after mum and not associating with anyone else, she is ok to continue and wants to come back as she is missing my mum. I have been looking after her since Friday, but if she comes back I can look for a temporary job. On the other hand she is high risk and has a teenage son who is still dependent on her. I don't know what to do,what say you all?

Rich,
My wife works as a cleaner/helping hand to three elderly households and reluctantly she has stopped visits due to the risk of unknowingly introducing the virus to them. It means a financial hit, but what's money when it comes to someone's life. In reality l can't advise one way or another just tell of the decision we made. |

if your mum is not going out and the teenage boy is not going out and the carer is only going to those two places then I would ask, where will your mother catch an infection from? Someone will need to do your mothers shopping and if that's means going to the shops be it you or the career, either one of you could catch and pass an infection on.

She virtually begged me to let her go back, so reluctantly I agreed on condition she takes extra precautions, sh suffers from mild asthma herself, so will be extra cautious.

Tough one Rich, I haven't been over to see Mam in over two weeks as my missus & me both have cold symptoms & Mam has had asthma all her life, I ring her every day to chat. Luckily I have an older brother that still lives at home & I order their food online for them as they don't use PC's or mobile phones.

Mum really likes her and she said it was up to me and the carer if she wanted to restart. She is really good and takes great care of mum. She has known this lady since she was a child, with a large gap in between.vshe is 100% honest and always keeps me up to date, often asking my permission for things I deem unnecessary to ask it for.
