Relaplaced Fan and Thermostat, still got problems
Hello , My Rover 75 2L KV6 was over heating all the time, i found that the fan needed replacing and the thermostat was leaking into the V. Anyway from all the good advice on this site. i managed to replace them both with new.
But now i still have a water leak and the V is dry all pipes seem dry as far as i can check, but there is still water dripping off the sump and a cant find were its coming from. i checked the water pump and that seems ok. One thing that im not sure of is the gasket under the alloy inlet manifold.I never changed this as it looked ok. Could this be the source of my water leak? i dont think its HGF as oil and water look ok. |

I've a feeling that there's a coolant gallery incorporated in the inlet manifolds, but my memory might be deceiving me. So it might be the cause of your problem. Although leaks are notoriously difficult to trace, the residue from the pink OAT antifreeze usually indicates the source. Just to warn you that some members have experienced heater matrix problems after using liquid sealing products. Simon.

well , yes i think is has a water pipe to the inlet manifold, but i thought if that leaked, it would leak into the V , but its dry now.

Gary,
I don't think there's a pipe. If the alloy manifolds are heated, they get their coolant via a port in the mating surface with the head. Simon.

Agreed, this is one of the reasons I will be getting part No. LKJ100992L- Manifold Gaskets shortly.
As you suggest, SD1too, these reside between the aluminium inlet manifolds and where they mate with the Head. Indeed there is a coolant ladder between both metal elements. Accordingly Coolant can leak either internally or externally as a result of these gaskets failing. And I suspect in my case internally, and is the cause of an increased amount dark brownish mayo in the vicinity of the Oil Cap together with the need to top every couple of days.

Water pump leak can also end up on the bottom of the sump / oil filter area
