Default Star trails

Just been out trying to get some star trails. Absolutely beautifull night stood on the banks of Ennerdale lake, although it was -4 degrees. Took photos of Polaris (pole star / North star) So hopefully i should get the stars starting to revolve aroud it. Long exposures up to 3/4 hour. Too cold and tired to see what turned out, will have to wait till morning. I'm now after a new lens as the one i used is far better than my kit lens!

Default night pic

Not very good?, hey I would be best plessed if I could get similar results. Think I need to practice more, I have a Pentax istDL2, only a 6Mp camera but it does what I need I guess. I am a rank amature and use the camera once or twice a month, although since moving to Dubai I have been getting plenty of opportunities for some great shots.

I must get round to posting a few on here, Dubai at the moment is giving photographers great opportunities for some stuning work if you have the abilities. My pics are true amature but hey have only had camera for a mere 18 month's and still learning about digital photography.

Cheers,

the pic is great in my humble opinion

Thanks, I have only been into digital photography for about 12 months. My mate did a similar shot but had complete circles instead of just movement

I guess you would have to be north of the artic circle to get complete circles. The shutter would need to stay open for 24hrs and it would need to be dark for that length of time. Each trail takes 1 hour to pass through 15deg. Nice photo tho'.

Just an added thought: Try and photograph the horizon. The trails will be a lot longer for the same length of time.
