Some online suppliers offer a "premium" service where you pay extra and they guarantee no dead pixels.
I knew someone who worked for one of these shysters, it was his job to go through the monitors and test them, any with dead pixels went back into stock for the other customers. My advice is not to buy from one of these sellers that offer this service, because if you don't pay the extra you have more chance of getting a screen with a dodgy pixel.
