Red face Numpty wifi hotspot question.....

I reckon it's time for me to move from the dark ages into the 21st C and get a tablet. I can't resist the 64G BBerry Playbook at £129 at the mo' (I know all the arguments for and against) which will be for casual use. I'm often on the train and a gadget colleague of mine told me that intrain wifi is very expensive and what I should get is a dongle hub type thingy that is far more cost effective. It sort of made sense at the time but what on earth was he on about

I don't know about a tablet (and I'm not well informed on dongles), but for a laptop, you can buy a USB dongle which can give mobile internet access.

From what I can make out, their are various packages. Mine allows me to prepay for a several Mb block, which never expires. I'm a light user and only need it occaisionaly while away in the the caravan. Anthher way is to prepay for a set Mb limit which has to be used up within a set period.

The dongle has a mobile number and dials in, just like a phone. In some cases you could use your mobile phone and its sim to serve up internet access to a laptop or a tablet via blutooth.

I would suggest that disconnections would be frequent on a moving train.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.
