Watched and loved it, I was sure there was something different - the picture was so vivid. Roll on HD freeview

HD is apparently unlikely to come to freeview because of the bandwidth limitations.

It's available on the equivalent, freesat though.

Freesat is nothing to do with Sky, and requires only a one off purchase of a box (or TV).

BBC HD is available, and some ITV 1 programmes are broadcast in HD too, like some of the star wars films recently.

I'm hooked, and love the stunning picture although Lark Rise is not one on my list to watch (sorry).

That was a surprise to me.

However, looking at the info it seems it will only be available when the analogue service is switched off. So yes it 2009 it will start to become available in some areas, but many will have to wait. For example the whole of the midlands is on Sutton Colfield, which maintains analogue until 2011 so no Freeview HD until after then.

I'm not trying to sell anyone freesat, but it does mean you can get HD now for free. And bear in mind, you'll need a new freeview box to get freeview HD anyway.
