check if the sound is coming from inside the door. It would be relatively common for the regulator to fail, and when mine did it made a lot fo creaking noises before the cable snapped. It is quite an easy fix, by way of replacement (Mickyboy is where I got my replacement - highly recommended trader). A bit of silicone spray in the window channels could help to eliminate sticky rubbers.
If it does turn out to be that, grease all the moving parts of the regulator before fitting.

The creaking or rattling is coming from the top of the windows when closed, if they are opened slightly the noise goes

Sprayed silicone WD40 on the door seal and window rubbers which softened them up but this seems to have made the noise worse

Everything seems secure don't think they have ever been taken off in the past .
If I drop the windows ever so slightly it goes away, it's both front windows that do it but its mainly on rough roads but |

I cannot think of anything else to check aside from the door itself. Mine would be more or less rattle and creak free.
