Help please !
Any 75 owners out there in Roverland with any idea what could be causing me serious grief with my 75 Diesel. For some reason these last few weeks it has just cut-out on me with no warning, coast it to roadside leave for a few seconds and it will start again quite happily and continue on its merry way.
this has happened now 5times, first time just as I left the M1 (a matter of 200 yds or so. I took it into my Rover specialist who put it on tester and could find no fault, it has happened again another 4 times, the last one when I was coming home from Lincolnshire last week. It is due to go into workshop on 28th Sept to attempt to sort it. I know these intermittent faults can take a lot of finding but I have got get it sorted as I am afraid to go anywhere but local. I'm sure you will understand the situation as I don't want a 44-ton kick in the rear, I'm much too delicate for that' I would really appreciate any suggestions. Many thanks. |

When it used to happen to mine, it was the well-known wet ECU. Don't speculate, or waste your time with the sort of generic testers used by garages. Get it tested on a T4

I had exactly this issue with my first Rover and had a couple of scary moments when it cut out in the fast lane of a busy M42. As Bob said I'd put money on a leaky or duff injector especially if when you restart it you give it some welly and see lots of black smoke out the back for a few seconds

When my ECU started playing up due to water ingress, this is exactly how it started.
There's a few possible causes though, so best to visit a known T4 specialist who can dig down deeper

Cheers guys, T4 seems like a sensible idea.
Presume it was a generic tester they used when they tested it the first time, plenums look to be dry at present, but my first thought was E C U. We'll keep trying, trouble is I struggle to get about let alone bend and pull about. Many thanks' fellas. |
