ahh yes mpg on a run back from weston super mare where i bought her i got 20 mpg, but thats under 2k revs just wafting along, im not a fast driver atall and never go over 3k revs so i can just about afford the fuel bill. I think the 4.0L is about 240 bhp but would need to check, and yes she is staying for a long time, i've all ready had to hide the keys from my parents!

Your driving style is exactly the same as mine.

Until i got the 2.5KV6. I don't spank her but knowing that I have something that sounds like she does and is capable of 4500rpm without keeling over and shifts like this.. Are the newer ones just as reliable? The newer shape ones that is. Did you say you worked at classic jags in Wellington/Milverton?

yes thats right, i was a jag tech for nearly 3 years which i loved, i would still be working there now if it wasnt for my boss.

The 1 up from the xj40 is the x300 with the AJ16 6 cyl engine which is just as good, plus the dont suffer from rust. The 1 up from that is the X308 with the V8 which is a terrible car as the v8 uses a nikasil bore lining which poor fuel octane eats away untill you loose compression and the engine dies, alough ford fixed the problem in 2001.

Sorry to hear about that.

Wasn't there a Jag with a digital dashboard bought in by BL?

With that motor you will need a trilby, camel coat and a minder called Tel!

Any chance of a picture of the engine bay. Yes I'm quite sad.
