What amazes me is they don't have a transponder additional to the on board Mode Charlie unit which Pilots have no access to.
ie Cannot be disabled from the cockpit by a dodgy crew.

I mean a stolen car with a £400 Tracker can be traced via satellite so why on earth a 100 million pound plane isn't tracable is beyond me.

The existing black box system is obviously not an adequate safeguard in this case.

The entire story is full of oddities, not least of which is why it took so long before the aircraft was noticed to be missing, the time spent searching in completely the wrong place, plus the time before the information was pulled together to work out the correct places to search.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

The max range of the 777-200 ER is 7,700 nautical miles and it needs up to a mile in order to land. I have flown on this aircraft up to 8 times in a year and am quite familiar with it from the perspective of the passenger. I always try to get the seats in rows 26 as they are the ones in economy closest to the emergency exit. Given the extended range this aircraft has, it is possible it could have headed south. I realise this muddies the waters

So assuming a full fuel load, there has been little mention of this, it could not only have got to Australia, but Antarctica, or well into Europe - though I appreciate it would not have got into European airspace unnoticed. .

It is going to take some finding.

I would just like to say that the fact that the autopilot is called George and my forum name is FLYER has no relevence.

My plot aint big enough to hide a 777.

After years of searching for bin Laden, they found him at home.

Has anybody checked the airports?
