@all with usb mod, for hdd or other power hungry devices you need to take power from cig lighter. There are usb adaptors that plug in the cig lighter and give you the neded power.

Hi Petru,

Thanks for the reply, the problem is that if I connect a TMC receiver to the GPS MOD, I an not able to feed the receiver from the USB and from the power,

If I used a "Y" lead I.E Feed from USB MOD and one from the cig lighter would that work?

Arr that was the post from Picky767.

Which is fine on a Hard Drive, which has a USB connection and a facility for a 5volt power input, but the TMC receiver does not, it gets its power from the USB connection only, I will buy a USB "Y" connector and see if it works.

I am still have a problem with the GPS mod, I have brought a new Male To Female USB lead, but it still does not show on the Device Manager or on Total Commander, when I connect my memory stick to it?

I noticed on your post http://golfmkv.com/forums/showpost.p...postcount=1469 you mention swapping the green and white wire, is that someting I could try, I don't want to blow the GPS board!!!

I will get my magnifying glass out over the weekend, to make sure I have not dropped a bit of solder between the pins when I soldered the 1st try.

my bad, was picky
on device manager will not show memory usb stick or other memory stuff.
But must show in total commander or windows explorer and let you browse it. Make sure is fat32 format, will not show ntfs. Also check soldering, is very important, no need to swap the wires, solder them EXACTLY like in picture and will work.

Anyone any ideas about an adaptor to allow the iPod to be charged?

Also, should we do some kind of a "how to" for all the important stuff? i.e. the USB port, Tony F's work, Petrutms patch etc

This thread is getting quite long at this stage and it would be useful to have all the technical info in one short thread.

Your quite right Eamonn, the treads seem to veering of the unit with MODS to the unit.

I will (time permitting) start a "how to" with MODs ECT on this unit.

The unit does NOT charge Ipods, I have already asked Sean (RadioGuy), his comment was that "most" Chinese unit do not charge (but my last unit did), as far as I know there is nothing like an adaptor lead that you can supply power to the unit and run it from the head unit (UNLESS anyone knows different). Its a pain I have my Ipod mounted under the centre arm rest and now I have to take in in doors and charge it every night.

Good stuff, Tony.

I had a quick look for an iPod charging adaptor but couldn't find one. If one can't be found, its not too difficult to solder in a connection for power.
