Fit the gauge. It'll give you something to occupy your mind as you drive along and help to concentrate less upon the road.---

For checking it then my first post is as good a way as any. To permanently install a gauge then as suggested get a suitable T fitting and keep the oil pressure switch so that you get an alert if pressure drops too low.
