Auto Gear Knob Change
Bit of confirmation please.
I need to change the gear knob on me auto. From what I can remember I need to select Neutral before pulling it up. Can members please confirm this for me?

Move it to 2 using your feet a fulcrums, keep your elbows locked if you can, and pull back with your legs preparing to roll into the seat. Doing it this way always works for me, and avoids flattened nostrils. I am not the tallest, so I can do this easily, am not sure how it would be if you were over 5'10''.

The auto gear knob can be removed in any position. (providing you are wearing a crash helmet )

Don't forget to press in the button at the same time as tugging upwards, as above avoid broken nose at all costs

I really struggled with this at first. No way could I budge it by hand. In the end I cut a piece of 2x1 timber long enough so the bottom was on the floor by the side of the console and top approx level with the bottom of the gear knob. Then an 18" crowbar under the gear knob and the timber as fulcrum. Came off a treat and with no sudden movements.
I did take a photo but not worked out how to upload yet. |
