Once again the Fl2 as had it's yearly MOT and passed no advisories well pleased it's great when you know the work you have put in looking after your car pays dividends

Steve, good to hear.
Is this the same car since your original post in this thread?

HI Sean.
The last post up is of my Freelander 2 MOT pass. Sadly the original MGZT 190 is no longer with me. It was exchange for the NUK in 2018 which Brian referenced to posts 19/ 20 in the thread above, it was due in April i could have use the Gov extension but preferred to have it's MOT kept up to date, post 29.

This thread helps me keep track of the dates due etc also for others to post their MOT tests if they want too.

Thumbs up Pre MOT Italian Tune UP

I still maintain and have always said coincide your full service on the car, ie all filters, oil, and bottle of this in your tank a week before your MOT.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222076086571

On the day of your MOT make time to run your car for at least 30 minutes on full pelt an hour would be better, this will get the car up to full temp, try to arrive 5 minutes before your booked time.

Then you should get good readings on the emissions test.

Default Service before Mot.

It's that time of year once again, Tourer in for the MOT on Wednesday, so over the last week i have given it a full service, oil, air & PCV filter change, manifold is still clean from last years change.

Today i had it on the ramps to check underneath, brake lines etc.

Will post up photos after the mot

I've just dropped Ssizefive's old CDTI off for its MOT. I've done nothing but pressure wash it. ABS light is on and no speedo. The real question is how much has the tin worm eaten underneath? I'll find out after Easter. Fingers crossed because it drives great.

All repairable Graham, at least the abs has diagnosed itself with the Speedo being off!

Default Combine your Service with your MOT.

I have for while now bleated on about combining your yearly service within the same week or a week before your MOT is due, this will help your car get through it's MOT.

As well as doing all the checks lights, tyres, brake lines, all rubber boots & drive shaft boots, changing out the air, oil, PCV fuel filters, adding new oil etc, dropping in a bottle of the above linked, then at least 30 minutes before your mot take car for a good 10 mile drive, while driving it like you have stole it, Italian tune up.

Air Filter
1

PCV filter even though mine was fairly clean from last year i still changed it.
2

You can see its still blue.
3

White one in it's place this time round.
4

Oil filter change cleaning out the pot also before adding a new filter.
5

6

Renew all the O-rings on the filter cap.
7

smearing the O-rings with some new oil before fitting.
8

9

Put filter into the pot not on the cap.
10

11

Then add the cap.
12

This time round i did not change the manifold , EGR or MAP sensor as they were still very clean.
13

Check al your fluids.
14

15

16

Car having it's shake rattle roll routine during the MOT.
17

Good luck with your MOT's & happy motoring.
Arctic.
