Default Oil Leak

Hi Everyone

Any ideas on this one i have a 75 Diesel fitted new filter and oil a few months ago,Today i noticed oil on the floor checked under bonnet and oil seal on oil filter had pushed out and was leaking from there, Checked it looked fine refitted it and made sure nice fit but noticed its pushing out again,I removed oil cap for engine and a lot of pressure pushing out of cap ,nothing from the dipstick blowing out.
I replaced the PCV filter maybe 2 yrs ago any help appreciated.
cheers julian

All sorted now thanks to Colvert

It can only be your crank case pressure release valve not working again. It needs a lot of pressure to push the seal out of the oil filter housing. --( Assuming you fitted in the correct groove. )--easy to get wrong.

Needs fixing or you are going to end up with oil going into the bell housing where your clutch lives.---

Hi Julian.
I was just about to say the O-ring is fitted into the wrong groove on the cap, you are not the first to do this and wont be the last, so just so other know here are a few photos of where the O-ring seal must be fitted.

This shows the gap to help remove the O-ring.
1

2

Add new O-ring every time, the little copper sump plug will not fit our cars
3

Do not fit the seal at the top of the cap but in the groove below, smear the O-ring with some new oil.
4

clean out the oil filter pot.
5

6

Add the filter to the pot not the cap
7

8

Then fit the cap
9

Do not over tighten the cap 25.5Nm will do or nip it up then one 1/4 turn
10

So lets remember second groove down from top of the cap.
11

Fill with 6lts of oil run engine to circulate the oil, let it settle then add another 300ml which should take the oil to the middle of the dip stick

12

I like to keep my oil between the maximum & the minimum mark

Cheers Arctic.
