Default Honda F1 jumping ship!!!

Blimey! Just as Redbull got back into competing again in F1 they're pulling the plug to concentrate on zero emissions technology, Honda to cease engine supplies after next season.

"TOKYO -- Honda will end its participation as an engine supplier in the FIA Formula One World Championship at the end of the 2021 season to focus on zero-emissions technology, it said on Friday." https://europe.autonews.com/automake...ons-technology

I guess with the domestic cars turning away from petrol there is not the need for manufacturers to continue making F1 engines to demonstrate their "products".
We already have formula E.

There are not many manufacturers in World Rally which I miss.

Didn't RedBull & Torro Rosso burn thir bridges with Renault & Mercedes for engines? I cant see them wanting the Ferrari engine the way it performs at present. Looks l;ike Formula-e then!

I wonder if this will affect the Indy 500 series, Doesn't Honda supply half the field with engines in that series?

Not so surprising given the potential downturn in the world economy..They have done it before remember. QUOTE.. Honda announced in December 2008 that they would be exiting Formula One with immediate effect due to the global financial crisis All the staff that worked at Honda F1 at that time were given VERY LARGE payoffs and in return had to sign a legal document agreeing not to work for another F1 team for 6 months.
I suspect that there will be some major changes in many sports over the next year or so when the loss of income from fans and sponsorship starts to bite harder.
cheers

If we areto be left with Formula E, then I for one will not be watching, rather watch paint drying.

Another thing! If Honda are going to be concentrating on zero emission tech what will happen to their motorcycle engines & the MotoGP & World Superbike series
