if you are getting that much pressure to blow your inlet manifold apart, please let me know how, I want some lol.

Probably just fatigue, cant really think of any other reason.

I would guess your replacement manifold will need a good clean out as they are usually full of rubbish, and oily sludge from the egr.

Maybe a weak seal that has failed over time. Not common but then again not unknown for these to fail.

Chuck it in the nearest bin and buy another one. Mickyboy on here will sort you a nice replacement at a reasonable cost.

LOL, I will call my rover a Manifold Blower from now on ! Sounds sexy! But yes, maybe its the fatigue, the car has 200 k on the clock and its 21 years old although still pulls strong.. well except from yesterday!

Yes, I can imagine the new one needs a good clean and I will do it as soon as I get it. I just sent Mickeyboy a private message. Hopefully he will be able to help.

I will report back once I manage to fix it !

Thanks a lot for all your help Mike Trident and Mike Noc and Arctic!

Hi Adam
Before you throw the old damaged manifold away removed the inserts the studs fit through on the 11mm nuts you never know when you may need one or two

You will need both 10mm & 11mm sockets to remove the manifold the 10mm are bolts the 11mm are 4 nuts & one bolt.

2

Once you have it off the car remove the Map sensor and give it a wipe over with a rag with some carb cleaner on it.
3

4

A blocked MAP & a clean one next to it.
5

I wonder if your EGR will look like this if it as never been off the car and cleaned
6

You want it like this below.
7

The manifold clean inside like this.
8

Some EGR come off wet other dry.
9

Oven cleaner is your friend with the manifold leave for a few hours then jet wash it out.
