Removing BCU connector?
Hi all,
Trying to unplug the BCU behind the glovebox, and I'm up against one of those BMW covered connectors like on the stereo loom. I know there's a simple latch/lock clip somewhere, but can't see it and access is restricted. How do I release the connector? This is a picture from elsewhere of the connector in question: (Thanks for the picture, Rich!)

Thanks Pete. Hmm, it slides about 3-5mm then sticks, no slide and not pulling out. Need to have another look at it...

Thanks Pete - looked at it again today and got a screwdriver under the far end of the sliding part and levered gently but firmly against the end of the BCU to get it to move. My concern earlier was that I might do this and break part of it...
I like the lever and clip type of locking plugs (like the other ones on this unit) as they seem a sensible design for positive and secure fitment. I've never found one of these sliding clip ones to work as expected

Hi Daniel.
As peter says these are quite stiff, once you have pulled it the 3-5mm as you say use a flat blade screw driver in the end which should have a little space lever very slowly it will move and then release few photo's below for those that may need to do this. 1 2 3 4 5

Hi Roger.
I have replied to your Pm and reinstated the photos hopefully this will help you, whom is sorting out your BCU to send off with spare car key because PCB is bust and a new one needs programming using a T4. Who is sorting this out for you, one of the T4 guys on here

Nice clear photos as always, unless of course they're stolen. I've just had trouble removing one of my IPK plugs. One came out easily, the other didn't - some electronic cleaner + small screwdriver helped, but awkward as there's not much cable length. The IPK is now on its way to Ricksta together with a brand new display.
Steve, perhaps you could advise Roger that if he's a bit computer savvy then he can fix a remote without sending off the BCU using Toaf. He'll need a used remote board which perhaps MickeyBoy can provide. Takes less than two minutes. Keep well, Mike |
