I tried this back in 2016, with reference to RAVE schematics and there was continuity. I will try this again when I get the opportunity.

Here's going with another re-bump of a very old thread of mine.

I have done all of the electrical checks and the push-button switch and the wire are fine.

The display shows all of the usual alarms such as bulb warnings and low fuel etc, but it just won't respond to the push-button, so I have no access to the trip computer menus.

This time I also measured the voltage on the wire from the IPK to the button wire and there was nothing measurable with the multi-meter on the DC volts setting. I would have expected to see a few volts..

It makes me think that there is an electrical fault in the IPK.

It is frustrating that I have not been able to access the trip computer for 4 years now (when everything else works perfectly on this car ... even after 305,000 miles!)

Steve

I would seek Marinabrian's advice or Big Russ - they are a mine of knowledge on the IPK/ECU/Canbus etc etc Drop them a PM.

When I first got my tourer some 4 years ago, the trip computer didnt work when pushing the button on the end of the stalk. After reading a few posts on here, the advice was to remove the stalk and strip it down, probably a broken wire. This was exactly my problem and it turned out to be a single thin brown wire that had broken loose. A quick turn with the soldering iron sorted that out and it has worked fine ever since. Good luck with your issue.
