indeed Crofts were brass and chrome plated. Any plating company should be able to re-chrome them with out a problem.

If your door finishers are the original plastic type, you will not be able to have them rechromed unfortunately.
Chroming plastic is a difficult process when the mouldings are new, one fingerprint or any inclusion (dust etc) Will show up on the surface underneath the chrome. Imagine how many imperfections your door finishers will have after all these years? We used to factor in a 20% reject rate when sending mouldings for chroming (They got sent to France to be chromed as the only company in the UK were not up to standard)

I’ve recently looked into rechroming various plastic components. I was quoted £500 just for a 75 radiator grille...

I worked at a chrome platers a few years ago and it is possible to re chrome plastic. It is difficult. We used to clean the item then seal it with pva mlxed with water then primered and then sprayed with silver which was very expensive but it gives the copper nickel and chrome something to stick too. We even plated trainers and plaster sculptures in chrome and gold.

Wouldn't it be easier to just buy a new set?
