Default Black smoke on hard Acceleration 1999 2.0 CD.

I was cursing today on M25 and suddenly heard a light "puch" sounds and then suddenly the car lost the power and when I wanted to overtake a car and I pressed the acceleration on 5th gear I saw a massive smoke in the mirror.

So the car lost a bit of the power and now gives a big cloud of black smoke when pressing hard the acceleration, when I press gently the some is not there.

Any idea what is going on?

The car is 1999 2.0 CD mapped to 150 hp, EGR bypass. Recently had an oil change and all the filters, but one thing to note is that the mechanic put fully synthetic 5w-30 although in the past I was always using 10w - 40. Also another thing is that the exhaust was replaced recently.

I also noticed a bit of a fresh oil spillage on the to hose next to the oil filter.

Thanks a lot and best regards,

Adam

Not sure of the spillage is connected to the issue, it might be just the few drops while changing the oil filter...

Has the intake pipe popped an hole in it, or has it blown off. That oil should not be there.

It looks like there is a lot of oil under the engine cover.
You need to remove it to see whats going on.

Yes, it could be a good idea to remove the cover and see what's going on there, although I think/hope this is just the oil from the "changing the oil filter" last week thing. But I will check soon.

You state that the oil and filters were recently changed by a mechanic?

No way a proper mechanic would leave oil all over the place like that.

True, although not sure if he was that "proper", I will try to take the cover tomorrow and will have a look.

What makes me wonder is the "puchhh" sounds I heard just before I notice the power loose and the smoke..

There seems to be a bolt missing on the engine cover. Has the bolt previously punched a hole through into the "engine". Can happen if it is slightly too long I seem to recall reading on a thread
