Another Covid 19 side effect
So, as many will know my wife is an RGN/Unit Manager at a local nursing home. After months of watching the residents pass away before their time, all from C-19, then working all hours god sent due to staff illness and shortages, the company that runs the Nursing Home have been unable to fill the 24 empty beds left by the deceased. For the first time as long as anyone can remember there is apparently a surplus of beds in Nursing Homes.
Having lost around 70% of their income (previously generated by these poor victims) the Nursing home will now close leaving all of the staff redundant. So now it falls to my wife to start contacting the relatives of the remaining few residents to advise them they will have to find somewhere to live. ( Oh and it's her birthday tomorrow) Closing date is expected to be 1st Dec...... Merry Christmas

Never thought of that, yet something else not considered.
Could the staff take on personal home visits? Best of luck to your wife and the people she works with macafee2 |

Perhaps time for her to bow out and retire and enjoy each other’s company, although I do realise that it’ll be more difficult sneaking the VIS casings into the dishwasher.
I was given a similar birthday present at my last school, but all the kids from the class descended on our house on my birthday to make it a memorable if somewhat tearful occasion. Bumped into one of kids just the other day who some nine years on looked a bit different. Always look on the bright side … Keep well Mike |

So sorry to hear this, I am afraid its another example of the British tendency to leave everything to the last minute and "muddle " through. Its the same story over everything to do with C19. Heaven forbid we plan for the future. I am approaching the period of my life when a care home could feature, however having seen how they consume ones savings I intend to take a long drive ( in the zt-t ) off a short pier, before that occurs.

I've had to start claiming Universal Credit after over 30 years in aviation and today I received a mesage from them to log onto my online account and believe it or not they are wanting to know what steps I'm taking to look for work! I don't hink these people read the news. Good luck to your wife Dave.

HI Dave.
Sorry to hear about Marina and the job, isn't always the same the hard working conscientious people whom always get the bad end of the stick. Whom go about their work in a professional and ethical manner only to be smacked in the face once NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- its the fan, its about time the homes were taken on by the government and into public ownership, and the nurses whom work their paid a decent go wage and looked after just like the MP's look after them selves. look after each others as i know you will always do hopefully she will find something soon that is if she wants to of cause.

We don't know each other but I just wanted to say I'm really sorry to hear that. My mum lives in a complex needs care home and the staff have a hard job but always smiling. Hoping your luck changes for the better.

Should it be in any way manageable under the circumstances, please extend best wishes to Madame Stocktake on her birthday.
