Default Help changing handbrake compensator

I am changing the handbrake compensator in my Tourer.
I have read this thread by Arctic
https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...ht=compensator
It mentions moving the seats forward to access screws in the side of the centre console.

There are no screws on the rear sides only near the front of the seats and moving the seats backwards or forwards does not clear these screws.

Did the manufacture of the centre console differ?

I think I will remove the seats, gives me a chance to hover

The front screws are a bit difficult to get at, found I had to squash the seat cushion and use a long Phillips screwdriver. Probably a good idea to take the seats out if you've the right socket for the bolts (Torx +50) if I remember correctly.
Don't know if the centre console differs, only done mostly early 75 cars.

Regards

Thanks, bolts all out and I have disconnected the battery so the airbags don't go off. I will leave it a while before disconnected the wiring. Found a missing screwdriver under the drivers seat which had cheered me up.
I've just remembered I need to lift the front of the rear seat cushion so will do that in a moment

HI Ian.
There is no need to disconnect any wiring also the screws can be removed from the side of the console quite easy, i note that the link you posted as the photos missing, i replaced them ages ago here is the link below, i fitted a SSC yesterday in drizzling rain in 20 minutes on a V8

Mind you i could do them with my eyes closed now folow the photo and you should be ok cheers Arctic.

A question, the black clip. Does that go between the ball of the single cable and the "clevis pin" preventing the ball of the single cable moving towards the back of the car and coming out of the compensator?

HI Ian.
Sorry for the late reply i had been working on my FL2 gearbox oil change, and then sorting out my fish tank, cooking the Sunday dinner, then relaxed watched a film, uploaded my photo on another forum of my Fl2 gearbox oil change, and now going through my notifications on here.

You most likely know now anyways.

Black clip holds in the front cable to stop it popping out of the compensator.
