Default KV6 temperature sensor seal

Evening all.

I am trying to fix coolant leaks on my Dad's KV6. I managed to mislay the seal washer that sits between the temperature sensor and the block, and haven't been able to locate a suitable replacement as yet. Just wondered if anyone else had sourced a replacement please?

Also still continuing to try and find o ring seals for the thermostat that will last.

Thanks.

Ben.

Hi Ben,

If you use standard MGR CDU 3858 and make sure that the plastic clips on the straight pipe are both pushed fully outwards then tightened you should be all right.

Leave the temperature sensor alone is my advice. Its gasket isn't the cause of the leaks.

The issue I have is that the original thin washer gasket isn't there. The temperature sensor is leaking and I can't locate a part number for the replacement.

You need a soft (copper or aluminium) washer to seal the joint. There are thousands on eBay that will do the job. Measure the thread diameter (crest-crest), which gives you the metric size (M in millimetres). Check the M size, outside diameter and thickness in listings like these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_f...shers&_sacat=0

Aluminium will be cheaper than copper.

Thanks T-Cut. I had looked at these, but the original item was around <0.5mm thick I believe. This affects the rotation of the connection on the temp sensor when tightened. The thermostat housing obstructs the connector plug if it isn't aligned making it much more difficult to remove and refit the connector plug if a different thickness washer is used.

No problem, just include '0.5mm' in your 'copper washer' search words on eBay. There are lots of suppliers.

Thought I'd take a look at other models, and bingo.

Odd that it isn't listed as a part on the 75/ZT KV6.

Interesting. A rubber washer for a spannered joint seems wrong to me, but thar ye go.
