Thank you Gentlemen.

I wonder what the chances are of finding a good Aubergine or Blue example?

Dunno, keep your eyes open as some sellers have no idea they have a personal line interior.

I'd love an Old English White with Aubergine personal line diesel Connoisseur.

You can find them. Aubergine seems to be the rarest colour despite being offered in the original brochure with 6 external colours. Might be because it's a bit of an acquired taste. Neptune blue was offered with 5 external colours, and deep sea green with only 4 external colours.

I believe the original leather and the personal line leather offered on the early cars was of higher quality. Some early cars have very little wear despite high mileages. Certainly the aubergine leather on my Dorchester Red car seems to have better grain and weight than later 'standard' leather.

Various members on here have found good, low mileage cars with Personal Line interiors - often favoured by elderly gentlemen who looked after them.

I would say that the leather is better quality on my recently acquired 2002 Connoisseur SE with Deep Sea Green Personal Line interior than my 'standard' 2003 Connie SE with Ash Grey seats. Leather feels thicker and slightly softer, the steering wheel is certainly nicer in the Personal Line Car.

Neptune Blue is relatively common - I have one on a 2001 V6 bought on Ebay. the seller never even mentioned it - the steering wheel is an easy give away if it is a personal line because the darker leather shows on the outer wheel itself.

A load of V6s were produced for the export marker (Japan - r h drive) with lots of extras like sunroof, auto, powerfold, Harmon Kardon and traction control - especially in Wedgwood Blue. The order got cancelled and the main dealers were asked to shift them at significant discounts. At least, that is what the salesman told me c 2001.

If you're patient these still crop up and are very cheap now compared to say, a CDT. Cost of servicing cambelts, exorbitant road tax and low fuel economy means very good examples can be had for £1k - £1.5k privately.

The aubergine interior is often found on gold cars.

The road tax on early 2000/2001 V6's is certainly not exorbitant .

I pay £205 the same as a 1.8 ford escort of the same age. I know who has the better deal.

Post 06 cars,,,now thats another story. £400 plus

I sort of have a personal interior on my Conn SE as it was an option that could be ordered for the car.

Does anybody know if the leather/alcantara, contemporary/MG style sportswere seats classified with the Personal Line options or as a separate category?

What was the cost when new of a Personal Line interior? I remember seeing the leather sports seats were a £2500 option if I remember correctly for a Connoisseur SE. Someone showed me the brochure once but I can't remember the categories or other prices.

It cost a reasonable £250 and was available in
Neptune Blue
Deep Sea Green
Aubergine
You could choose the Personel Line trim on the Club and Connoisseur models
The Club models had Personel Line cloth and the Connoisseur, Personal Line Leather trim.

The Aubergine option was dropped when production moved to Longbridge.

When the facelift model was introduced the Personel Line option was droped but any of three colour interior was available under the Monogram option.

ref the aubergine comment, mine is a 2001 on a y plate, and i think my car was one of the cross over cars? as in i think they built mine from the bits left over in the parts bin, i think mine was built at longbridge but has the aubergine interior and certain other bits from cowely but not really sure any way of actually checking this sort of thing out???
cheers

The Personal Line range was only an option on the luxury Rover 75 not the sport MG. It was a £250 cost option not £2500. Also it was only available up to Project Drive or thereabouts.
