start up noise

2004 SE. metallic noise on driving after start up, this goes after a mile or so. though sounded like a brake problem, but continued when car is stationary. is this something to worry about? any suggestions. car has 65k on clock, lots of history - in history is some work to starter motor - think car has had this problem before - not got paperwork to hand to double check.
i can live with it but should i get it looked into?

Couple of questions:-

Does it happen with cold start or also when warm?
Have you opened the bonnet when stationary and try to locate the noise?
If it dissappers after a mile, it doesn't come back until the next start?

Could be starter motor, could be valves, could be timing belt tensioners etc

only got it recently - noise doesnt come back until next start and as far as i know only happens when cold. i will look into it a bit more and get back to you. thanks for your input
