Non Starter - Waiting for the AA (V reg 1999 2.0 V6 Auto)
Went to start the car this morning V reg 1999 2.0 V6 Auto and she would not start,She turns over but sounds lumpy it tries to catch but seems to splutter and die after a second.
Opened the bonnet and had a look and walked indoors and called the AA Cant be the fuel pump as my car is on a V reg 99 and i am lead to believe that cars before 2001 don't have this fault. I am thinking it's the crank sensor what what i have been reading on here. I will update you all when the AA man has been. |

Well the AA man came and went with my car still not working and sitting on the drive.
He managed to get the car started but it didn't sound to healthy He plugged in his laptop and it showed no faults as the car started and said that ruled out any of the cam/crank/O2 sensors The AA said it sounded mechanical and asked about the cam belts and asked if they have been change, The belts were replaced about 2 years ago by our very own Mr. Lates. What next ? Get the car transported down to see Andy & Ralph at Executive Motoring Services and see what they say and the costs involved |

I'd still check the fuel filter before going any further. Although that usually results in total failure to start.

The AA man's software may or may not read the fault codes correctly on your 99 car so I would get it towed to XMS to put it on the T4 if you can't rule out other fuelling issues.

I did send Ralph a PM informing him that i will be calling them on Monday but i don't know if he logs on much over the weekends, so if you speak to him let him know, If the fix is a cheap one i might even let you loose on her to give her a treat. |
