DVLA usually send a reminder a couple of months prior to the expiry date, I have 3 reminders, one for my PCV medical one for my photocard and one for my digital tachograph card.

Considering the technologies available!, identifying an individual via a photo is primitive to say the least, it serves as an excuse to rip the sheep, ah I meant the public off.

Driving Licence Date (Fine)
One thing to also bear in mind, if you are over 75 you need to renew the licence ever 3 years. I have just checked my licence details, mine runs out this November, which is confirmed on the DVLA site.

I noticed on the Martin Lewis show tonight that the extensions are now over, so we need to get on top of renewing our driving licence.

I did mine on line with a verified photo code from a photo-me booth and a Gov.org verification via tax records. Sounds complicated but it really isn't.

I'm a bit late on this thread, and will admit I've not read all 6 pages to see if anyone else has already said this, but if not....
My wife had a letter a couple of weeks ago telling her that her license was coming up to expire and she needed to update it with a new photo. If you have a valid passport, you can do it online and use the photo from that. She didn't, so it was either go and get photos taken and then send them off, or go to a post office and they can sort it. 1st post office she went to said they don't do it there, shed have to drive to one in Kettering. So she went there and they took a photo and did it all for her, just waiting on the new photo card to arrive now. |
