2003/53 ZT-T 190 KV6 2.5 Non Start Petrol
Hi Everyone,
I have an issue with Dad’s car. It won’t start. Parked on Thursday evening, went to start yesterday and it doesn’t fire. It turns over fine. Battery is good. The fuel pump seems to cut in for a couple of seconds. It has almost caught a couple of times. My laptop died so I can’t use toaf, I got a lead in the post last week. A generic Autel tester, set to land rover 2.5 petrol KV6 shows no codes, but does show limited live data. Car has done 30k miles. There is about a quarter of a tank of fuel indicated on the gauge, last filled a couple of weeks ago and running fine till yesterday. I thought it might be the immobiliser chip in the key, but it is the same with two keys, ( mum found the spare ). I am going to try a bit of fuel in the airbox to see if it catches. All help gratefully appreciated.

Fuel filter clip? https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...d.php?t=300566 If your Dad's car is a later model it will need one. Otherwise measure the fuel pressure at the valve - should be at least 3.5 bar.

The demise of my laptop means I have no way of reading the CD manual, any pointers on where this is? Fuel filter clip, I wonder if @Arctic has any more of them?

If you can't get hold of a clip a self tapping screw works well

I hope not.
I am learning this car and it’s eccentricity. I would hope these would show as a fault code?

I am learning about posting images too, hopefully this is a photo of the very grubby filter.

Right, I had a crack yesterday.
Sadly the forum wasn’t working and I thought I had broken that too!!! Seat and insulation out. Cover off. Filter is very grubby. Pipe off. Ring off, it was tight. “How does this thing come out?” I ponder. A bit of brute force and ignorance and it pops out. I can lift it up but there seems to be a lot of pipes and other stuff. Bear in mind the car is stuck outside some one else’s house. So if I don’t have a tool, I have to go home for it. I can lift it up and get it nearly out, but I don’t want to break anything and be on a worse shituation. I can feel there is a small gap. 1/8” in places. I can’t work out if I can get it to go together any more. If I squeeze the housing fuel comes out the top. I order a white clip from eBay, dizzy Bizzy Lizzy. Will try and post photos.

Hello Calum,
There was a recent photo posted of the casing showing how the ribs line up when it is screwed together fully. Don't worry about the colour of the filter element. It's probably discolouration rather than contamination since it's not a service item. Fit the clip and take care not to dislodge any of the tubes when refitting it into the tank. If that doesn't solve it, listen to the pump whilst an assistant cranks the engine. It should be running continuously. Simon
