Default I want a Mercedes E320 CDI

As my 75 suffered ITP failure, I was stuck at work, 30 miles from home yesterday

My employers (Merc dealers) very kindly leant me a "trade car" to get home in, a '53 plate 172,000 mile E320 CDI

I thought that the 75 had a good ride quality.......until I drove the Merc. The hush as you gallop along, the car goes like stink (204Bhp) and the roar from that big straight six of a tractor engine as you kick down

I WANT ONE

Having driven one, I must say they are pretty impressive machines to drive, though the one I drove was a 3.0 V6 7G tronic facelift car. However, at that age, it'll rust, it'll suffer all manner of electrical problems, and because it's a Mercedes, you'll pay through the nose to sort it. I'd have a large Merc if I could afford a decent one though!

Have you seen the price of S class parts?

I work in the Parts department of a Mercedes dealer, parts for the S class are a horrendous price - really scary!

Wouldn't touch a W203 Merc with a barge pole!

My C240 although it had full Mercedes service history and had done less miles than Ed the Zed, the build quality on it was appalling!

I don't think that there was a panel on it that didn't have rust in it!

This was also the car that made me buy an OBD2 reader and I was forever clearing codes on the ***** thing!

Also had to replace both the MAF and the in tank fuel pump which is a common problem on them, which at just 75,000 miles, I thought was very poor.

Try Googling "Mercedes W203 problems", that should be enough to put you off!

Nice car but I'm not qualified to to comment on anything except maybe Merc/Smart/Subaru/Isuzu/Kia/Jeep/Chrysler/Dodge parts

mine was a w202 and i loved it full stop.even down to the foot operated handbrake.now i am looking at the new c class .as for the old ones e class would not touch one with a barge pole.a long one at that.unless it it had a full merc service history.and and if it had been serviced at a merc garage in the last x2 years any issues with corrosion they will sort out for free.now if i had the choice i would go for something like a old 190 one of the last handbuilt ones built like tanks
