My tow bar replaced the rear crash bar, bolting into the same place (and the towing point). In my case, it is not a case of removal, but rather a replacement with an alternative.

Personally I never liked the thought of jacking it up via the central towing point, as the cup on my jack was quite a bit wider than the diameter of the towing bracket. In my mind, if someone was to touch even lightly, the car on one side, it could topple off easily. The towbar clamp, doesnt reach the bottom of the radius of the towing bracket, it wouldnt be so bad if it did.
