what exactly are
first registration fees on hire vehicles? Apparently the money does to the dvla but what for? I did ask the hire company but they were not that helpful macafee2 |

why does a hire company charge at every hire? Once the fee is recovered and I am assuming it is a one off fee to the DVLA, who is pocketing the money, if the hire company, does that not point towards fraud? I would have thought the supplying dealer would cover that so they get the sale and the hire company claim it as tax deductible.

The "First Registration Fee" is just that, charged at and only at first registration. Part of the Licensing Duty and is due to DVLA.
'Hire fees' can be subject to 'service charges' depending on the hiring owners' business practices and may be for differing loads or extended hire periods. Sometimes insurance upgrades can be applied under the term 'additional charges'.
