Ray, without opening the car, peer inside and see if the light switch module is illuminated with the car locked.

I had to replace the LSM on my own ZT for this exact fault, and it's not uncommon either

If the LSM is defective, it will not allow the BCU to enter "sleep mode" meaning instead of a quiescent current of around 45mA, you will see a 1.5 to 2 amp current draw at all times

An easy and non intrusive test, with no tools required other than a dark night

There is only one LSM, that is to the right and down, from the steering wheel, in the dash. The switch knobs are back lit and the suggestion is that if the knob illumination remains on, that the LSM could be the cause of your discharge.

You cannot simply swap the LSM in from another car, it would need to be coded with a T4 to match your car.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Charging circuit is fine approx 14.5 volts and nominal charge current of about 10amps to start and then drops, you can monitor the voltage and see the alternator working as the in line ammeter flickers slightly as the alternator momentarily witches off and then on again which is normal when charging a full battery (higher than 13 volts) I am going to try another local garage and will see how good OR bad they are. Will post my feedback.

if you find your battery drain is down to a LSM fault in the case of your other car, then it would make sense to have it programmed with the VIN of that one rather than gathering dust in the garage

I didn't get your follow up PM by the way

I think Brian was suggesting that the switches of the LSM, the back lighting which lights up the knobs - will remain lit up (plus maybe other knob back lights), if they have the same fault.
