That time of year again... Charity December is back!
Hello ladies and gents,
As you're all probably aware by now, every year we donate 10% of our profits in December to a local charity - Queenscourt Hospice in Southport. They're a charity close to my heart, as my Granddad spent the last few weeks of his life in their care. In previous years we've donated £800 each year (plus Gift Aid) to this fantastic cause. To take part, just order from us as usual - at the end of December we'll simply take 10% of our profits and donate them directly to Queenscourt. Thanks everyone!

If £8000 a month is profit .Maybe prices could be a little lower throughout the year .Just a thought .As you state that your prime concern is to aid MG Rover enthusiasts

Tantallon, it might be that because 10% goes to a worthy cause, that people buy more in December than they would normally spend
Anyway. . . Inline thermostat for Kim ordered

I service the ZT-T over Christmas - so an order from me will be arriving soon. The fact that a donation is made to an obviously worthwhile cause is simply a bonus. |

If people are going to engage in a debate in relation to tantallon's post (quite unnecessary in my opinion), then the points should be factually correct. e.g. Quote:

tantallon - Kudos to you for making a logical point that you felt like making despite knowing that the response from the majority is unlikely to be positive. Personally, I have no interest in DMGRS' profit levels and what he does with them. Each person can decide whether what DMGRS offers suits their needs/wants, including tantallon. Profit is GOOD obscene profit is BAD. A good profit margin shows that the company is healthy. With the feed back I read on this forum I can see he runs his company in the spirit that this country WANTS its business to run, in a capitalist/socialist way.
The customer is happy. He is happy. The charity is happy. Everyone is happy.

Sorry, I should have been a little more clear (although it's not been a problem in previous years, but there we go!)
The 10% cut of the profits is purely from the cost of purchasing vs. sale prices - there's other overheads that bring the actual amount we make down quite significantly, but aren't included in the calculation. Namely, rent for the 2 units we have for storage, VAT, staffing costs (we have a part time chap, and an accountant on file), electricity... the list goes on. I'm sure the owners of the other MG Rover suppliers make a much larger amount than I do, but as far as I know we're one of a few (if any) who run an event like this. Besides, if we had a tiny margin on what we sell we wouldn't have been able to buy out huge amounts of the stockpiled ex-MGR stock from SAIC in China, or had new items like the V3 thermostats for the CDTi or metal cambelt tensioners for the K Series made up for us. Both activities (having new products created, and stockpiling in properly maintained storage facilities) are massively expensive, and consume a large amount of our resources. I appreciate all input (and thankyou to all for your comments), however I do feel that tantallon should be looking at other suppliers if he's concerned about how much we're all making.
