Anybody a spare boot lock barrel to offer?
Hello chaps!
New gremlin on the way... My boot lock barrel is now turning round & round when I'm inserting the key and nothing does happen any longer: I can't open it. Fortunately the inside electrical switch is perfectly working. I think I've found the perfect answer here: https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...d.php?t=128765 It's just remaining to be done! So who could help me with a good spare boot lock barrel for a fair price? Thank you so much!

Thank you very much for this very interesting tip.
So I'll have a close look to my barrel ASAP.

No joy! Any help from kind guys?
So I took off the boot trim, the clips and the cir-clip.
Nothing is looking wrong apparently and both bits of plastic are still in place and look good (even the picture isn't so good). But I guess the circular copper (?) spring - even still in place - may have snapped at least at one end. So I put it back. Then same work in reverse order. I tried once: miracle! that worked again. Twice same luck. Thrice barrel is turning with no end again and again. Electric indoor latch working fine as usual. So I repeated all the entire process once more. Now it refuses to work with the key, not even the first time. Electric indoor latch working fine as usual. My guess is some barrel element may be tired and worn. Could you help? Hence I ask the same question as in the first place: has anybody a spare barrel to offer (with key I guess?)? I would be deeply happy and grateful because I'm becoming upset with that blasted locking!

Almost certainly the answer is in the link in your first post, mine was exactly the same. once you get a new barrel assy you can change the small cast part that breaks and retain your same key.
I looked for a breaker selling a boot lid and asked if he would sell the lock separate, result

Unfortunately I'm living in France
The only problem is that I live in France, very few Rovers still running in the South-West (It's a very feast when I see one!) and obviously no longer any breaker selling those parts... I've tried before... My only hope is in the forum or on the Bay.

Thank to Dave who showed me a spare barrel on the Bay, the issue may be solved - fingers crossed.
The dice is cast, I've ordered the barrel. I take the bet, it's down to me. I hope that fiddly job will have a happy end. Wish me luck!

My 1.8T has an "odd" boot lock, replaced before I got it. Its a pain having an additional key. I use the boot release in the car and the extra key lives in the door pocket, can't be bothered carrying it around.
