TOAF and SRS light problems
Hi all,
Having a little problem sorting a little problem! My 190 has the airbag fault and SRS light on, which is preventing me from getting it MOT'd! So, I have been trying to resolve this issue. I have hardwired the connectors underneath both front seats. I have replaced the side impact sensors as it is a sunroof car and was a complete swimming pool when I got it. I have bought a KKL cable, downloaded TOAF and looked for errors. The SRS module did have 1 error, it said it was a brake light wire shorting out. I cleared the error to see if it would reappear, which it hasn't. However, the SRS light is still on. I have removed the SRS fuse for 20 mins and replaced it....still on! In TOAF, though, it won't connect to the SRS module, just throws up an connection error. Does anyone have any advice to help? My guess is the SRS module needs replacing as it is probably water damaged as well, what does anyone here think? Cheers Jamie PS I now know inlet manifold actuator 1 is permanently closed, though!

Toaf in its standard form won't read later cars with the Autoliv airbag which explains the lack of communication.
I've noted a small SRS file on the Toaf website, which might help you but also heard it needs Vista. Haven't tried it myself as I've an early 2000 car. https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...=246915&page=2 Regards Last edited by vitesse; 5th September 2018 at 13:25.. Reason: correction |

Is that the airbag AND seat belt pre-tensioner connectors? A problem with either will bring the light up.

When you turn the ignition on, what happens with the srs light.
Does it come on, go off, then come back on again, out did it just come on? What I have found is that if the lamp just stays on it seems the SRS module is not communicating (normally a fuse, or a dead unit). But if it comes on, goes off, then comes back on again then the unit has detected a fault, which needs to be fixed. Hope this helps a little.... Chris

Thanks for the replies!
Chris: The light comes on and stays on, which might confirm the SRS module is at fault. Luckily I have one on my spare ZT that hasn't ever got wet. Maybe a quick swap will cure it. I shall also check ALL the underseat connectors (probably do that first!) Jamie

Hi Jamie,
Just a heads up, the swapping of airbag modules will need the donor car to be the same in terms of fitment. Ie both need to be a salon/estate, and have/don't have the pillar airbags. Otherwise the airbag will complain and flag a fault (not what you need when you are chasing something else). Also something to check is that both cars have the same style of passenger fuse box, as I believe the airbag module changed at the same time as the passenger fuse box changed (normal blade fuses to mini blade fuses) Cheers Chris

Both cars are saloons, both are the same fuse box and I will check for the pillar airbags.
I have found out that while the cars were registered a year apart, they were built 4 days apart and the 'newest' one is actually the 'oldest'! Funny how things work out! Jamie
