Default If i fit another set of clocks

From time to time members report having lines across their digital MPH, MPG, Average speed display.

If I get another set of clocks from a diesel and attach them to my car, can I test the display without causing any damage to my car ?

I'd just cycle through the display via the button on the end of the indicator stalk then refit my clocks.

thanks

Could I drive the car with them fitted? I ask as I have just fitted an indicator stalk with a button on the end to my Tourer. I've tried to cycle through the mpg, average speed etc and its blank, do display at all. Is that because I have not driven the car just started it and so there is no data to display?

And I was just about to suggest a possible dud switch, and to check contacts - but this is an easier thing to check

the switch seems to be ok. I took it out of the Tourer and put it into the saloon and it worked ok.
I have sprayed contact cleaner on the plug and socket and as best as I could last night in via the button.

I have an airbag warning light on which could be to do with removing the steering wheel air bag to fit cruise. I'll check air bag contacts then reconnect the battery and test both airbag and switch. Battery has been disconnected a little over 2 hours

air bag light solved, dodgy workmanship. The connector on the back of the steering wheel airbag had not been connected properly and had fallen off.

Still cant access the digital mph, average speed display

Not sure if same problem but when i bought my tourer, the trip mileage/mpg/av speed etc display didint work. turned out to be a broken wire (brown i think) inside the stalk. Just resoldered it and its been fine ever since.

I think the advice about having a low line ipk is right. having looked at the one in my saloon and getting the clocks that belong to the same car as the switch I got, the lcd screens do look different to the one in my Tourer.
