Default Wind and gas...... struts.

Been doing the daily checks with the bonnet up when a gust of wind caught the bonnet and slammed it down. Unfortunately, one of my fingers was between it and the wing. The natural reaction was to pull it out as my 3/4 inch finger was caught in the 1/4 inch gap! No bones broken but the sharp, inner edge of the bonnet has gouged a horseshoe shape cut in my finger. Ouch! Lesson learned! New box of Elastoplast on order!!!

Gas struts don't like cold weather and loose a lot of their pushing power.

Hope your finger recovers and its a lesson to us all in cold weather and high winds.

The same problem with John the Tea.
Interesting John Silver hasn`t it.

Any mods available?

If you need new struts to replace 'tired' exam[les, they are available from this company:

https://www.sgs-engineering.com/car-...lgate/rover/75

We have used them to source replacement struts for a machine at work and they're very helpful and quick delivery,

Steve

P.S. Get a Rover approved accessory 1st Aid kit, Part number KEF100070 keep it in the glove box.

I got the bonnet down on my head last time it was windy, thanks to my white 1.8 lol.

Do you confirm that these are with equal quality/power as the genuine ones?
Hope they are better

The "original ones" are now at least 13 years old, so it is not surprising that they are a bit weaker now!
