Default Insurance

Both car and van due next month, car renewal came through, last year we paid £484, this year they want £576, almost 100 extra for nowt. Been on confused.com and getting it for £336 with 95 compulsory xs lgal cover and coutesy car.
Waiting for van renewal, can get that for £316 , 150xs legal cover and courtesy van. Insurance?? Legalised robbery more like. I will never auto renew these days. The only thing I auto renew is the caravan policy, as it hasnt increased for last 4 years.

Shows it pays to shop around at renewal time.

How many claims have you had on your car policy though Richard?

Just renewed van policy this morning, 30,000 miles a year commercial policy. Been with Aviva for years. This year they wanted £1,405.00 with 11 years no claims discount, got it from Ageas for £1035.96 through local brokers, as you say it pays to shop around.

Same with anything really these days. My broadband went up from 17.50 to 37 a month. Called and they gave it me for 20 a month. If i hadnt have called they'd have happily continued to rip me off.

1 claim last November when she scraped the side on the car park wall, and one on the van for windscreen.

That’s extortionate, but then I don’t do a big mileage, only about 10k a year in the van. The car does less, about 8k a year.

Insurance = biggest legal swindle of all time!
I'm 58, no points, no claims, no convictions, Best quote I had was with AVIVA, Myself and Mrs .. fully comp, breakdown cover for UK and Europe, no extra charge for European travel if first informed of dates, £50,000 legal cover, £250 excess, 15,000 mls per year, agreed value of car, hire car for 14 days....
£339 P/A. Daylight robbery
My first car was a Cortina 1600E at the age of 17 ... paid £88 per year fully comp! and I thought that was a rip off. haha.
Might be worth giving AVIVA a call, it was the best quote I had all week.

Then again, less than £1 a day out of your pocket and them risking paying out many 10s of £000s if you bounce off a few cars down the motorway. 15k per year is above average mileage as well. I've not done 1,500 in my ZTT since last Christmas and I'm paying £123 with Pete Best.

It seems insurance companies don't realize how much brand loyalty could help them.
My insurance renewal last year came in some £90 more than I could renew with the same company through one of the comparison sites. Rang up and got renewed at the better price - but they seemed surprised when I declined auto renewal.
Then this year, did they learn? No... Another company (LV) came in cheaper, so now with them - didn't even bother chasing up the existing company - they obviously didn't want my business.
