Default Is my ECU banjaxed???

Will be checking that the ECU is not in a pool of water later, but for the moment just wondered if it could be anything else...

Basically car has been totally fine. Just gone to it and it would not unlock via the remote???
Battery indicator on the key is lighting so all seems in order.

Unlocked car with key manually and started without issue.

However then the alarm started to sound and would now turn off with the remote or key??

Also the weird thing is that the headlamp washer jets were activating at the same time as the alarm was sounding.

Any other suggestions as to what it could be, and if it is the ECU what could be the possible fix...

Thanks again

Dave

Ok. That sounds like good news.
Now for the next stupid question, what is the BBUS? Where is it and what does it look like??

Finally when its located, can I just unplug it and remote locking will return (I assume loose headlamp washers)

Thanks again

Dave

Ok, Removed the cover and ECU dry as a bone, which was a relief.
However now not sure if I have disconnected the BBUS.

Is this the fella?

BBUS by Dave Grice, on Flickr

Have disconnected and also put a new battery in the remote, and everything working again (sort of.....)

Previously remote would work immediately and from a few feet away.

Now only seems to work if holding by windscreen, and once locked will not yet you unlock straight away. Give it a few seconds and will unlock again and vice versa.

Going to get another battery to be on the safe side, just wondered if anyone has any ideas/confirmation that I have unplugged the correct thing.

Cheers

That's the alarm horn & not a BBUS. try remote locking the car with a door open if you get a beep then it's a horn if you get a chirp it's a BBUS

Powerwash pump split and drawing/leaking current. Disconnect electrical connector from the powerwash pump on the washer bottle under the front offside bumper to eliminate ?

Going to have a look again in the morning.

Do you think taking fuse 44 out will accomplish the same thing to test

Something strange there. The headlight washers should only be fitted with a battery backed up sounder, but your pic shows it has a normal horn fitted....
I suspect someone has fitted headlight washers without fitting the bbus, or updating the cars coding, this would explain the headlight washers squirtng with the alarm, as they are on the same contacts within the body control unit (I suspect the headlight washers have never worked properly)

As for the lack of of remote distance/not working I would try a new battery in the remote, then if no joy maybe even look at the remote receiver behind the dash (unless the car is really early in which case it could be by the handbrake). I have seen failures of the receiver, but that was just a total failure to operate.
Good luck
Chris

Yep, headlamp washers never worked, so just appears to be a remote/alarm/receiver issue.

Was worried why washers had started working, but makes sense now..

Will reconnect horn, and do some more checking tomorrow re alarm.

Thanks again
