Default Made Redundant

Hi.
Unfortunately I've been made redundant. Due to a previous redundancy with this company I've only got two continous years service. I'm also due knee surgery so the prospects are not good. At 61 I'm not looking forward to the future.
Anyone fancy a V6 auto?

Not good news at all.

With some firms you are just a number to them.

Hope you get another job as soon as possible.

That's the trouble with a lot of firms, I might lose my job soon and when you turn 60+ they're just not interested in you
I'm convinced ageism exists. Also can't stand the term "Human Resources" that to me shows that you're just a resource nothing more. What happened to the "Personnel Department"? Seems a bit more "personal" to me.
Rant over, and hope you find something soon.
Good luck

Strangely enough something similar happened to me at 60 yrs. of age.

Whilst working my redundancy period I needed an emergency operation that involved me being signed off as unfit for work beyond my redundancy notice period, making ineligible for Job Seekers Allowance for a month.

That's when I decided to review my outstanding life's ambitions, one of which was to own a 75. Drastic cutting down of list meant after 5yrs. I bought a 75 and am now on my 2nd.

Opposite seems to apply to you, if hanging on to a 75 means missing other ambitions, I know what I'd do.

Another day another 75, for quite some time.

Are you in a position to think about early retirement?
