Default High idle when cold engine MG V6 190

Hi everybody

I wonder if someone could advise me when my car starts it idles at about 1300/1400 rpm when cold and when comes up to temp drops to about 750/800.
its seems to be really racing on startup, Any ideas of things i should try, please.

They do idle a bit high when cold anyway but shouldn't be trying to race away. First two ports of call would be iacv and vacuum pipes, especially the T section under the engine cover which is common for breaking apart.

Cheers for suggestions but cant see any leaks or breaks it revs at about 1500 when cold and gradually drops down to about 750 as it warms up ,Its just seems high when coming to junctions when cold anymore ideas please,Also the idle speed control valve has been replaced by previous owner.

Hi Julian,

Don't take Mr. Previous Owner's word for it, take it to pieces and check that the parts look as if they've been recently fitted. While you're at it, inspect the electrical connector closely to make sure that the terminals are clean and a good fit.

Update removed the idle valve and gave it a clean replaced gasket and seal and rpm have dropped from 1500 to 1100 when cold so all good must of been sucking air into valve,Was really prity clean inside so im thinking the gasket or seal was my culprit.
