People get caught out all the time misunderstanding the ‘little green light’. It’s purpose is to indicate to the supplier when the battery is new on the shelf it’s state of charge. It is a hydrometer that just measures one cell assuming all the others are the same gravity. On an old battery the cell with the ‘light’ on it might be good but the others could have failed.

Oswestryalex, does your car have a sunroof? The sunroof drains are notorious for leaking into the footwells and making your carpet underlay/deadening wet. You can hardly feel it on the surface, but they can hold several litres. Also rear windscreen seal, boot seal, and rear wing chrome trim fixings can leak into the boot and rear seat area. If working, your A/C should act as a dehumidifier - that is why you often see cars dripping from the underside in dry weather.

Hi, no I don't have a sunroof, but I was wondering whether water might collect somewhere in the engine compartment and then get sucked into the air system into the cabin? With all that rain, and the car standing out in it, if any water did sit in there, that would explain it. Good to know the aircon helps to dehumidify - I was finding the only thing that cleared the windscreen was the aircon with a high fan setting. If we get dry weather (ever?) then I get the windows down and let fresh drier air in, which tends to clear it up pretty fast. But the sprays they sell which claim to stop misting definitely don't work from my experience - tried it in this one, in a Volvo estate and in a BMW with the same result - more misting.
