Anyone got an example of the type of bearing puller or joint splitter that i could use to remove the inner bush/corner elbow of the control arm? It's something i've really been struggling with.

This thing has been kicking my NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- for a few weekends now and i'd really like to replace my control arms with the new ones sitting in my front room for the past 2 months.

Cheers, those in my link supposed to have a 3yr?? warranty .

Problem with all this replacement suspension stuff is the waranties are all fairly pointless being time related , which to most peeps is a total waste of ( pardon the pun ) Time .

A year to me is less than 6k miles , and with the NS side on my CDTi at 153k and still seemingly ok? anything that doesn't last at least 50k+ is obviously Rubbish . .

Having already had lower 2 arms, 2 wheel bearings and a track rod on the OS , getting a little pee'd off . .

I agree the warranties are meaningless.

The important question is, what is the difference between the ones on eBay and the ones Rimmers sell? Presumably, the eBay castings themselves are ok (i.e. they're the right length & shape etc.) so that leaves the bushes and the ball joints. What makes them inferior?

Just to update

it looks like i'll be needing to replace my Lower Control Arms again.... i'd have hoped for a bit more life from these... I guess i'll try Rimmers more pricey MG/Rover parts this time around

there is noticeable perishing of the Ball joint Rubber Boot and a wee bit of a knock.

the original arms i removed would have probably still been fine r.e Ball Joints - if only i'd have just replaced the Rear Bushes

beware the so called "Bargains" out there in aftermarket "OEM Quality" parts land

not even 2 1/2 years. Disappointing.
Problem with where ever you get them from is who made them? Could be paying more
to find they come from the same place as a cheap set and as for original, ask when it was made

best of luck

I always spread some red rubber grease on all the boots to prevent drying out and cracking. It seems to have worked so far. The modern "rubber" doesn't seem to last if left untreated.
