Hi John.
This should help somewhat, but sorry some photos are missing but there are enough to get the job done.

Hi members / owners we are moving into the wet weather section of our year from now onwards up to April, so lots of rain coming our way from to then, those plenums will need to be checked at least once every week, it's not an hard job and could save your car from expensive damage.

Just realised my car is missing the panel under the meshed cover so the plenum is just open to the elements.

Are there closure panels for each side, or are they just fitted on the pollen filter side?

Pollen filter side only.

Now to put the cat amongst the pigeons

I do not have the "spy hole" and have in 21 years of ownership not needed one.

The secret? Jules' plastic insert on the drivers side of the plenum AND blocks of large pore acquarium filter material on each end, blocking any access to the plenum chamber. Very minor debris through the plenum chamber covers.

Although I am surrounded by many trees including Scots Pines with their needles especially at this time of year, an annual vacuum cleaner suck is all I have ever done.

Many years ago on Trikey's advice I fitted aquarium filter material and have never had problems since

Even with Jules' plastic insert on the drivers side, and aquarium filter material on each end fine debris will still get in, if the plenum tubes have not been cropped off to about 15mm at a 45degree angle you will eventually get water in the plenums have no doubt about that, it may take time but it will happen.

The spy hole mod will let you rod the plenums in a matter of minutes, and checked once week is not hard, so my advice is do the spy hole mod and cut the plenum tube, access is from under the car only.

Default Check your plenums

Plenums don't neglect then with all this wet weather or you may regret that you did not just spend that five minutes to check if they need rodding.
